The Town of St. Albans does accept credit and debit cards. Authorized usage will be from Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. If the customer chooses to use their card, there will be a charge of 2.5% of the total sale or a minimum of $1.00. The charge is borne by the customer.

Property Taxes
The Town of St Albans accepts payment online or in person over-the-counter at our municipal office.

Payments can be made through this service using a major credit/debit card (Mastercard, Visa, Discover or American Express). This service is provided by a third-party working in partnership with the State of Maine. Your tax payment will be applied to your account, the convenience fee will be retained by the processing company.
It is the policy of The Town of St Albans to apply all payments to the oldest outstanding tax.
PLEASE NOTE There are some cases where individuals are not eligible to use the online tax payment service. Please review and verify that your property tax account does not have any of the following exceptions on it before using this service. Failure to do so may result in payment being rejected in certain cases.
- Accounts that are in dispute or protest are ineligible for online payments. Please contact the Treasury office for more information.
- Accounts that have gone through tax foreclosure are not eligible to use this service.
Vehicle Registration
The Town of St Albans accepts payment online or in person over-the-counter at our municipal office. This site allows you to RENEW a current registration online by paying your local excise tax, state motor vehicle registration fee, and a small fee for this online service.

PLEASE NOTE: New registrations or registrations that have been expired more than 7 months require visiting your municipal office to pay excise tax. If the Town of St Albans office is able to complete the registration process, we will do so. If the Town of St Albans office cannot complete the registration process, we will instruct you to visit a Motor Vehicle Branch Office, where your registration will be completed. If you reside in an unorganized territory, the complete registration process can be done at a Motor Vehicle Branch Office in person.
